Strathallan's LAMDA Teacher is celebrating the publication of her first book - 'The Nicht Afore Christmas'

Irene McFarlane has translated Clement Clarke Moore's poem 'The Night Before Christmas' into Scots

Published by Tippermuir Books Ltd the Scots version – The Nicht Afore Christmas – was translated by Mrs McFarlane and illustrated by Rosemary Cunningham. It begins with the well-known lines “Twis the nicht afore Christmas, whan aa through the hoose, nae a craitur wis steerin, no een a moose” and is set in the Scottish context of a family living at the National Trust for Scotland tenement house in Garnethill, Glasgow.
