Strathallan Netball team named School Team of the Year

Strathallan Under 15 Netball team have been named ‘School Team of the Year’ at the Perth & Kinross Sports Awards, recognising their incredible teamwork and achievements in 2022.

The team, who won were crowned National Under 14 Netball champions in April 2022, were thrilled to be awarded ‘School Team of the Year’ at the competitive awards held on Friday 3rd March.

Now in its 33rd year, the awards recognise the achievements of athletes, volunteers, and clubs in the region and announced Eve Muirhead as Sports Personality of the Year at the same ceremony the Strathallan side were celebrated for their outstanding performance on the netball court, going unbeaten and scoring 210 points during the season.

Co-captain Olivia D said, “We are so grateful to be named as Perth and Kinross School Team of the Year, this was an outcome of an absolutely amazing year of netball and 100% drive from our team and coaches.”

Co-Captain Flora R, added, “Winning the Scottish Cup and being co-captain of the team has definitely been my best achievement at Strathallan so far. I am glad I am part of such a great team, and we couldn’t have done it without each other. I look forward to playing more netball and improving with the team in future seasons.”

Head of Netball, Louise Waugh, said: “I’m incredibly proud of this team, I’ve worked with them for two years and they have worked incredibly hard together. We are so thrilled they have had this recognition from Perth and Kinross Sports Council. We wish them all the best as they advance through Netball Scotland’s Scottish Schools Cup this year.”

The U15A team will face James Gillespie’s High School in the Scottish Schools Cup quarter-final on Monday 6th March, with hopes of joining two other Strathallan squads (U18s and U13s) heading into their own respective semi-finals.
