Strathallan Hockey teams named HPC Tournament Champions

Strathallan’s Senior Hockey teams will head into the indoor hockey season with confidence this year after they were named champions at the Hockey Performance Consultancy (HPC) U18 Indoor Hockey Tournament.

Strathallan’s Senior Girls 1st XI and Boys 1st XI both went unbeaten in the HPC Under 18 Hockey Tournament in late 2022.

The girls had a fantastic tournament, beating Uddingston 2 - 0 in the final, with Rachel Fagerson named Player of the Tournament.

Vice-Captain of the Girl's Hockey team, Maria McK, said, “To win all of our pool matches and get to the final and win 2-0 was a really good feeling, especially because we only had one training session before the competition began. Before the tournament, we weren’t sure where we would stand but now, after that final, we have a lot more confidence going into the nationals.”

The Boy's team also went unbeaten, finishing the competition with a 3 - 1 victory over Western.

Hamish N, Captain of the Boy's team said, “Tournament was tough, lots of strong teams. winning that final and hearing the whistle go was an amazing feeling. It’s definitely lifted our spirits and given us a boost of confidence for this year.”

Pauline Stott MBE, organiser of the tournament and co-founder of HPC, said, “Our first HPC QAPM Under 18 Hockey tournament was a great success with 13 teams from across Scotland taking part.

“Congratulations to Strathallan School for winning both tournaments. We look forward to seeing them and other teams compete in our Under 15 and 13 events in 2023.”
