The 2022-23 school year has been an exceptional one for Strathallan Prep School's young athletes. From netball triumphs to swimming successes, our Prep School athletes have showcased their dedication, skill, and teamwork. Meet some of our future stars celebrating victories and progress in the sports they love.
Netball Champions:
Strathallan Prep School's netball team has had a phenomenal year, clinching the title of Caledonian U13 Regional Netball Team 2023 and IAPS Scottish Representative Winners 2023. The team – made up of Surina C, Annabel A, Jing W, Onyx L, Ruby A, Emma G, Ava C, Harriet R, and Eva S – showed unwavering determination which contributed to their triumph in the IAPS U13 Regional competition, where they emerged as winners and advanced to the national finals. Their hard work and skills were rewarded in the spring when they came home with the Scottish Schools S1 Cup, solidifying their position as one of the top netball teams in the region.
Swimming Success:
Swimming has been another area of excellence for Strathallan Prep School. Ross McL, George M, Bertie A, and James S secured second place in the U12 Boys Relay at the Tayside Schools Swimming Championships, which returned to competition after a three year hiatus. Their outstanding performance contributed to the school's strong showing in the competition, with numerous personal bests achieved by the team across different events. Elaine Johnston, Head of Swimming, said, “We are absolutely delighted with all their performances. This is a hugely positive start to the racing season and great to see so many excellent executions of race plans in the pool.
Setting a High Bar:
Strathallan Prep School athletes have celebrated high achievements in other sporting disciplines. The gymnastics team secured 1st place in the U11 Intermediate Perth & Kinross Competition, the under 13 girls' squad claimed 1st place at the Strathallan Cricket Festival, and in cross-country the under 13 girls' team emerged as 1st place winners in the Merchiston Juniors Cross Country competition with a new course record. In tennis, Sophie D, Madeleine E, and Eilidh B claimed victory in the Kilgraston U12 Doubles tournament, and the school was once again shortlisted for the Tennis Scotland School of the Year. Our young hockey players have lots to be proud of this year, too, after bringing home wins in the HPC/QAPM U13 Indoor Hockey Competition and the IAPS U13 Scottish Representative Winners. Jing W, Ruby A, Aila D, Harriet R, Ross McL and Cameron C all celebrated selection for the Caledonian U13 Regional Hockey Teams.
The school is proud of the achievements of all our young athletes, and always delighted to follow their careers after their time at Strathallan. Prep School alum Jamie Ritchie, captain of the Scotland rugby squad is a source of inspiration to our current players from Prep School and up.
