Fantastic Four: Strathallan swimmers set records at Scottish Winter Championships

Four Strathallan swimmers competed at the Scottish Winter Short Course meet in Edinburgh last weekend with outstanding results across a variety of events.

The Scottish Swimming Winter Short Course at the Royal Commonwealth Pool is an open event with swimmers of all ages competing, including former pupil and decorated Olympian Duncan Scott.

Representing the school and Perth City and Dundee Aquatic swim clubs; Evan D, Elise C, Euan W and James G recorded the following results:

Evan D

400 IM – dropped 6.64 seconds from entry to finals, winning Scottish Junior Title in 4.22.26 & Scottish Age Group record.

100 free – dropped 1.18 seconds reaching final recording 50.81

200 free – dropped 2.39 seconds dipping under 1.50 for the first time, winning Scottish Junior Title in 1.49.11 and Scottish Age Group Record.

200 fly – dropped 0.6 seconds reaching the final and winning the Scottish Junior Title in 2.06.23.

200 IM - dropped 2.57 seconds reaching the final and winning the Scottish Junior Title in 2.03.62.

400 free – dropped 4.37 seconds reaching the final and winning the Scottish Junior Title in 3.55.10 and Scottish Age-Group record.

Elise C

100 free – dropped 0.43 seconds to record a time of 57.23, reaching finals.

50 br – improved on her entry time by 0.96 with a time of 33.94, reaching finals

50 fly – just missed out on finals with a time of 28.87

200 IM – dropped 1.58 seconds from entry to finals recording a time of 2.18.74.

50 free – reached final just outside her entry time with a time of 26.58.

200 free – dropped 3.14 seconds to reach final in a time of 2.02.82.

100 IM – dropped 0.73 seconds and reached final recording time of 1.05.28.

Euan W

400 IM - dropped a massive 10.16 seconds recording a time of 4.47.24

50 Br – just outside his PB with a time of 31.78.

200 fly – 3.03 second improvement on PB with a time of 2.20.25.

200 BR – 2.31 second improvement on PB with a time of 2.34.35.

James G

100 free – 0.74 improvement on his PB with a time of 53.46.

200 free – 1.87 improvement on his PB with a time of 1.58.75.

50 free – wee drop of 0.01 but a good solid swim of 24.59.

200 br – 1.65 sec improvement in PB with a time of 2.32.70




Head of Swimming, Elaine Johnston said, "Our swimmers produced a fantastic set of results. Evan scooped up five junior golds and all of four swimmers improved their times. It's brilliant to see so many Strathallan pupils improving their times at this stage of the season."

Evan, who took gold in the 200 freestyle, 200 butterfly, 200IM, 400 freestyle and the 400IM, has now jetted out to Canada with Team GB where he is set to race in the Ontario International.
