Strathallan School is excited to launch a new project to nurture young musical talent and bring original work to new audiences around the world. Strathallan Studios’ mission for inspiring original sounds provides creative pupils with access to top quality producers and facilities to record and release their own original material.
Director of Music at Strathallan, Jason McAuley said, “I’m thrilled to announce the launch of Strathallan Studios. Giving our pupils the chance to produce and release their own music is a rare opportunity within a school environment and I am excited to see what our talented musicians create and launch in the near future.”
For Maia B-A, the announcement has helped her to realise a lifelong dream to release her music. Giving particular credit to her music teachers Mr Fraser Christie and Mr Pete Murch who produce the music, as well as being mixed and mastered by Mr Christie, Maia recognises how her transformation into Maia B-A has been a result of the experience and expertise offered to her by the instrumental staff.
Giving a small insight into what she plans to release, Maia describes her music to be a “development of her emotions over a period of time,” demonstrating how it is through the medium of songwriting and producing she manifests her self-expression.
Maia goes on to speak of how the new record label allowed her to collaborate with her friends, something she relished. Helping students to strike a balance across academic studies and extra-curricular hobbies and activities is a goal embodied in the Strathallan’s ethos, and demonstrates the school’s commitment to adapting to students, like Maia, and their interests.
For Maia, the launch of Strathallan Studios has advanced her musical opportunities, allowing her artistic image to be understood, bringing her music to new audiences and breaking out of restrictive genres. She explains how she can be in the Chamber Choir whilst simultaneously release modern music, and she is excited to see how the label will expand the musical opportunity at Strathallan, welcoming students to engage with many genres.
Although Maia did not reveal too much, she spoke of her future plans to take up music full-time, with a few exciting things coming up in the following year. We look forward to seeing what Maia and her fellow musicians do with the introduction of Strathallan Studios, an incredibly exciting addition to the array of opportunities Strathallan has to offer pupils.
