From Scotland to Switzerland: Strathallan Swimmers Prepare for a Splashing Season

Later this month, ten Strathallan School swimmers will proudly represent both Scotland and the School, with two pupils heading to Geneva and a team of eight competing in Aberdeen for the Scottish Schools Finals.

Evan D and Finlay B have been selected to join the Scottish Junior Team in Geneva at the end of January.

After being named to the Scottish Junior Squad last September, the pair will now compete at the prestigious 58th Geneva International Challenge, marking the unofficial start of the long course season.

Evan, who recently represented Scotland and Team GB at the European Juniors in Lithuania and Toronto, is eager for the upcoming challenge.

“I’m excited to see where I stand, especially as it’s my last year as a junior. I’m keen to give it my all in the pool,” he said.

For Finlay, this is a significant milestone in his swimming journey, having earned his first national call-up just a few months ago.

“It means a lot to me to get the chance to see where I stand against some of the top swimmers in Europe,” he shared.

While Evan and Finlay take to the international stage, eight other Strathallan swimmers will represent the School at the Scottish Schools Finals on 24 January.

Harriet W, Kristin M, Luke J, Euan W, Soren Y, Adam S, Sam C, and Andrew L have all qualified for two events each, making it a standout occasion for the team.

Captain of Swimming, Harriet will lead the team in her fourth Scottish Schools competition.

She said, “It’s exciting to have made it to the finals in my last year, and it’s great to have a team around you, hearing them cheer and support each other around the pool. I used to be really shy; I’d know the answer but never put my hand up, but being Captain of Swimming among all these great swimmers has given me amazing confidence.”

Elaine Johnston, Director of the Strathallan Swimming Academy, praised the team's dedication; “We are immensely proud of our swim team, who continue to support and push each other in and out of the pool to be the best they can be. It’s a really exciting start to the season and a great opportunity for them all to experience swimming at a higher level.”
