Tennis star Thomas named Tayside’s Most Promising Junior

Strathallan School pupil Thomas D has been awarded Most Promising Junior at the Tennis Tayside Awards 2024, in Dundee at the weekend.

The pupil from Perth has had an exceptional year on court, with notable achievements throughout the year including; winner of the 18U Lexus Scottish Junior Open, men’s winner of the TS500 at the TS Open Tour, Scottish Number 1 ranked player in the U16 age group, representing the North of Scotland in the U18 Div 1 and runner up at the Scottish Junior Indoor Singles Championships.

Reflecting on his most recent award, Thomas said, "I feel very proud to receive this award. It’s been a great year for my development, and the results have been good. I feel the hard work and dedication has paid off, and this award is a great recognition of that."

Head of Strathallan’s Tennis Academy, Tommy Ogilvie, added, “We are really pleased for Thomas, he’s had a fantastic year on court. The results have been there, but Thomas is also a great role model for our pupils. He maximises every opportunity and continually challenges himself to get better in all aspects of his development. I know there is more to come and look forward to helping Thomas achieve his goals in 2025."

Thomas recent success is a highlight in what has been a remarkable season for the Strathallan Tennis Academy. With a focus on nurturing talent and providing top quality coaching, the Academy continues to go from rallies to rising stars.
